Our full-service grant writing includes everything from initial grant research and identifying suitable funding opportunities to crafting compelling proposals and helping you submit them. We support budgeting, required documentation, and compliance checks to ensure your application meets federal guidelines. -
We have experience across various industries, from healthcare and behavioral health to education, housing, economic development, and urban farming. We specialize in helping organizations navigate federal funding opportunities that align with their mission and goals.
We are not a good fit for organizations wanting support with 10 or more federal grants per year and are likely not a good fit for universities or hospital systems.
While we do have experience providing copy editing support to researchers for whom English is a second language, Jezreel Consulting does not specialize in research grants from federal agencies. These grants are best written by the researchers themselves!

Federal grants are typically awarded to non-profit organizations, state and local governments, educational institutions, research institutions, and sometimes businesses. Eligibility requirements vary by grant program. As part of our service, we thoroughly review your organization and goals to match you with the most relevant federal funding opportunities. We’ll help ensure you meet all eligibility criteria before you submit your proposal.
-
We begin by conducting an in-depth assessment of your organization's goals, mission, and funding needs. From there, we use paywalled databases and resources, as well as publicly available resources, to identify federal grant programs that align with your project. We evaluate each grant's eligibility requirements, funding amounts, and priorities to ensure we pursue the most appropriate opportunities for you.
Once we identify a grant is a potential match, we create a short summary of information we think you need to make a good decision. We share this with you and if you are interested in potentially pursuing, we have a one-hour “go, no go” call to decide whether it is a best fit opportunity for your organization right now.
-
We’ve been doing your grant research and we’ve held a go/no go decision making call, so by the time we’ve decided to pursue a grant, we already have a solid understanding of how the grant would fit into your existing organizational strategy. The process starts with a consultation to understand your project and objectives. If we are in the first few months of working together, we likely will elect for weekly program and budget development calls. As we work with clients longer, the frequency of these calls drops. We draft the proposal, ensure it meets all guidelines, and you review and approve it. Although we don’t hit submit for you, we will upload all the content into submission systems and walk you through how to submit.
-
Our pricing is based on the scope of the project, including the complexity of the grant proposal and the time required to complete it. We offer flat-rate pricing, allowing you to budget for the work and know exactly what it will cost. This is discussed in the go/no go conversation so you have all the information up front.
-
The timeline for preparing a federal grant proposal can vary depending on the complexity of the grant and the availability of required documentation. Typically, proposals take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks to complete. We’ll work with you to establish a realistic timeline based on your needs and the grant’s deadline.
If you would like to pursue a grant that is completed annually, we may opt to work ahead of the announcement. This generally results in a less hurried and higher-quality product. However, we typically offer our client this after we’ve earned their trust because it is a slightly riskier way to pursue grants, as grant announcements are often delayed and sometimes canceled.
-
Yes! If you’ve already submitted a grant proposal but didn’t receive funding, we can help by reviewing your application, providing feedback, and revising it to improve your chances for future submissions. We also offer guidance on how to handle feedback from federal agencies and refine your proposal strategy for resubmission.
-
No, but we are happy to refer you to federal grant management firms that can help with this. We can also talk about how you might build internal capacity through your federal grant submissions to do this work in-house.
-
If your proposal is not funded during the course of our engagement, we will review the feedback from the funding agency (if provided) and determine areas for improvement. We’ll make a decision about whether revisions can get us to a high enough score, and if so, prepare for resubmission during the next open opportunity. We aim to learn from each experience and refine your proposals to increase your chances of success next time.
-
Securing federal funding is competitive, but a well-crafted proposal that aligns with a funding agency’s priorities significantly increases your chances of being awarded funding. While we cannot guarantee funding, our goal is to maximize your chances through expert proposal development and strategy.
Different opportunities have wildly different funding rates ranging from less that 5% to well over 50%. We will share how competitive we think a grant competition will be during our go/no go vetting process.
-
We recommend starting the process as early as possible—ideally, 3 to 6 months before the grant deadline. This allows enough time to thoroughly research opportunities, gather the necessary documentation, and develop a well-crafted proposal. Some federal programs have annual or cyclical deadlines, so planning ahead is key to ensuring your submission is as competitive as possible.
Other times, we won’t have enough information to get started until the grant application system opens. Once open, application periods for federal grants are typically open for just 8 weeks. Making that go/no go decision quickly is essential to maximizing.
-
Getting started is easy! Simply contact us for a free initial consultation. We’ll discuss your projects, funding needs, and goals to determine if we can assist you.

Yes, if you are doing work in St. Louis, feel free to reach out with questions about a specific project. Please include the name of the funding opportunity, links to the RFP if available, and some basic information about your preparedness to pursue the federal grant.
